Lombard St.
Looking up Lombard from Columbus. Yes, it really is that steep.
View of Alcatraz from halfway up Lombard. Note people on roof watching Blue Angels
 Alcatraz island and prison
 Another hill.
Looking up Lombard from the base of the twisty bit

Looking down one of the twists of Lombard St.
Down the western side of Lombard, towards Van Ness
Another shot down West Lombard This is actually really steep, I took it with the camera parallel to the pavement. The tilt of the building at top left gives it away. Walking down this street it feels like it's at least 40 degrees. Cars have to park at 90 degrees. Signage is blunt about that.
Lombard and Larkin, people stand on roof top to watch Blue Angels

The green line is my earlier trip. The red line is the trip with these photos. Although the red trip looks longer, some of it was spent using MUNI (San Francisco Municipal Railroad, in this case, trolley buses). I think it works out overall to less walking distance, but those hills are brutal, esp. up Lombard and Powell.

Plans for Next Time
On my next trip, I may stay on the 42 all the way around to Fisherman's Wharf, and get some shots of the Golden Gate bridge.
